Morning dawned with the threat of rain on the schedule.  We were fortunate to have it hold off for the
most part until mid-afternoon.  Teams that had outdoor jobs, especially paint crews, tried to quickly
get as much done as possible.  As we drove from site to site it was interesting to see the progress
made over the course of just one day.

A few changes had been made to some of the work crews to make things run more efficiently.  There
were a few necessary changes due to things like the proper inspections not being scheduled or not
passed.  The great thing about our groups is that we thrive on being flexible.  One of the groups that
was pulled off of a job that needed an inspection was sent to do some drywall at another place.  That
house is now humming right along.

But, just before lunch time, I had received a call from my mission buddy, Ben, who was not able to
make the trip, but who is with us here in spirit.  He had a very important question on his mind.  "What's
for lunch at the Baptist church today?"  Mrs Rawls did a wonderful job as always.  Today's menu
included turkey and gravy, rice, macaroni and cheese, 2 types of green beans, okra, ravioli, salad,
corn bread and two types of cake.  We are very well fed down here.

Ray has done a great job of training a few of the college students in the fine art of drywall installation
and is allowing them to tackle a wall by themselves while he works on another with someone else.
Everyone is pitching in and gladly joining another group if their job falls through or is finished.

The few showers we had today passed rather quickly leaving more clouds and unfortunately, more
bugs in their place.  While speaking with one of the locals tonight, he mentioned that the bugs usually
leave him alone, but even he has been bitten this spring.  It's the worse season for bugs that he can
remember.  Many of us are learning to appreciate the wonders of cortisone cream and other anti-itch
medications.

I found out tonight that Joe, another of our past home owners, just received his certificate of
occupancy last Thursday.  He has invited us over for a visit tomorrow after her gets home from work
to see his finished home.  It is extremely gratifying to see the light in the faces of these people when
they are finally able to say after three and a half long years that they have moved into their new
homes.    As Tom reminded us during devotions on Monday night, not only should we not hide our
light under a bushel, but we should also remember that the light is the light of Christ.  It is alive and
well here in the faces of the residents of Pearlington.    We are privileged to serve here.
