Monday morning started out pretty well with John having a job assignment for everyone, just one job per person. This was a first for us. Our jobs this week range from drywall installation and painting to cabinet installation to stairway construction and debris removal. Our home owners are single folks and married couples and they are all wonderful. Some of the job sites have crews from other organizations working there as well. There are quite a few young people around us on this trip.
Our group has eleven students from Macomb Community College who are adding a breath of fresh air to every site they work on. At our stair construction job, there is a group of about a dozen students from Cumberland University all doing some heavy manual labor.
It's been good to see familiar faces once again. We saw Ken Short at lunch. He is still tending to details for many of his neighbors, helping them get work done on their homes. Miss Kitty stopped by to see us as soon as she got off the bus from work. It's a blessing to know that she is now in her home.
Diane took the afternoon off from Bayou Grace and drove to camp to see us. She has been volunteering down in Houma now for about six months and just told the people there that she will extend he original one year commitment to two years.
The Lord plants small seeds in us all and some of them take root and flourish amazing fast!
